Charles Henry Milne

Charles, my great grandfather, was a cotton worker and the husband of Mary Elizabeth Davies. He had four children Hannah, Herbert, Marion and Frederick.

Of the four children, Herbert was by far the most successful. He had a butchers shop in Rochdale and bought a farm at Norden which is still being run by his only son, Dennis.

Fred wasn't so lucky. He was a little slow and was never taught to read. He helped Herbert in the butchers shop.

Marion married Jack Woodroof who was killed during the Second World War at the border of Holland and Belgium. She never re-married and brought up her two sons Brian & Alan by herself.
